||The museum is one of the oldest and largest of its kind in Norway. At the museum you can experience how the people of Sogn have lived and worked from the middle ages and up to the present time. The open - air museum have over 30 historical buildings from the Middle Ages and modern houses from the end of the 1980s.
In the museums large, main building you will find exhibitions dedicated to agriculture, handcrafts, textiles and clothing, food and drink, and an exhibition celebrating our national and religious holidays. The museum also has an exhibition for children, which shows how the everyday life was in the beginning of the 1900s and how youngsters in Sogn lived in the year 2000. During the knitting year 2007, the knitting café ”Knit in the middle of the week” will continue and the museum is working on two exhibitions: ”Knit memory” with its out spring from the knitting café and an exhibition with work from students at Sogndal Comprehensive School in collaboration with the artist Samira Jamouchi.
